Collioure
Chateau Royal   Collioure Port
Collioure is a beautiful town steeped in Catalan history overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Above is Le Chateau Royal, a place of historic interest.   Collioure Harbour, where fishing boats moor and shops sell artisan wares. There are restaurants near the fortress and a beach by the port. Every Sunday there is a traditional market, well worth a visit.

Ceret Town
Ceret Market Spice stall   Cherry Festival in Ceret
Ceret is a charming market town famous for its cherries. A cherry festival is held at the end of May every year, to celebrate the harvest.
Every Saturday throughout the year there is a bustling market where people come to buy fresh produce from the locals. and artisans sell their wares. Musicians play outside the cafes and people sit in the sunshine enjoying the ambience.

  La Foule Ferrier in Ceret
There is an annual Bull festival (Feria) held in July in Ceret, where young bulls run through the streets and people dance to the music. This is a 3 day event and well worth visiting.
Both Picasso and Matisse lived in this region and Ceret has a Museum of Art where their work and the works of other famous artsts are shown. Above is a picture of the Museum.

Lakes in the Region
Plain d'eu   Villeneuve de-la-Raho
This beautiful lake is in the town of St-Jean-Pla-de-Corts. There is another lake adjoining it where fishing is allowed. There are trails you can follow from here that take you alongside the river.   These lakes are in Villeneuve de-la-Raho, between Perpignan and Le Boulou. One lake is for swimming and water sports and the other is for fishing. If you wish to walk around the lakes the total distance is 7km.
